- Format
- Three parts in about 2 hours: Speaking & Writing (76–84 minutes), Reading (23–30 minutes) and Listening (31–39 minutes). Since 7 August 2025 there are 22 question types, including two new speaking tasks: Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation.
- Scoring
- Overall score from 10 to 90 (based on Pearson's Global Scale of English), plus a score for each skill. Results usually arrive within 2 business days (sometimes up to 5). Requirements vary; many universities ask for an overall score somewhere around 58–65, sometimes with minimum skill scores.
- Results valid for
- 2 years from the test date.
- How you take it
- On computer at an authorised Pearson test centre. PTE Academic cannot be taken at home.
