Good to know
For students whose home (domicile) is outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the UK, and who already hold a conditional or final offer from an eligible Irish higher education institution. Previous GOI-IES holders can't apply, and Russian and Belarusian nationals are currently not eligible.
How to apply
Step 1: Get an offer from an HEI
Apply for admission to an eligible Irish HEI through its own admissions process, which is separate from GOI-IES. You need the offer before you apply.
Step 2: Confirm your course is eligible
Check with the HEI's GOI-IES contact (listed in Appendix 1 of the call) that your course qualifies.
Step 3: Ask two referees
Get two references of 500–700 words in English, dated no more than a year before the closing date. You upload them yourself.
Step 4: Complete the online application
Pass the eligibility check, describe your academic record and work experience, write your personal statement, and upload your offer and references before the deadline. You can't change it after you submit.
Step 5: Wait for shortlisting and results
The HEA screens applications, your HEI shortlists them against its strategy, and an independent panel scores them (minimum 60 marks). Results come in early June.
Documents you will need
- Offer letter, admissions email or portal screenshot for the coming academic year
- Two references (500–700 words each)
