Good to know
Open to citizens of Chevening-eligible countries and territories. You need a degree that qualifies you for a UK master's, at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience, and applications to three eligible UK courses. You must agree to return to your home country for at least two years afterwards. Current or recent UK government and British Council staff can't apply.
How to apply
Step 1: Check eligibility and choose courses
Check that you meet the criteria, then use Chevening's course finder to pick three eligible one-year master's courses in the UK.
Step 2: Apply online via your country page
Choose your country on chevening.org/apply, register, pass the eligibility checker and keep your access code. Write the four essays, name two referees and submit by 11:00 UTC on the deadline.
Step 3: Apply to your three UK courses
Apply to the universities as soon as you can after submitting your Chevening application, because some courses close when they're full.
Step 4: Interview if shortlisted
Shortlisting is in mid-February. Upload your documents and two reference letters at least seven working days before your interview, held between March and April at a British embassy or high commission.
Step 5: Secure an unconditional offer
Results come out from mid-June. If you're conditionally selected, upload an unconditional offer from one of your three courses by 17:00 BST on 8 July 2027.
Step 6: Wait for your Final Award Letter
Accept the conditional award and complete its task list. Don't apply for your UK visa until you receive your Final Award Letter.
